"Microsoft Office Access"

This course provides the students with the knowledge and skills to proficient in database applications, and to be effective as an end-user in the most ordinary business environments. This course will give the students a complete understanding of the Microsoft Office Access environment. BCLC will teach imperative information pertaining to Access by demonstrating how to work with databases.

BCLC will accomplish this objective through lectures and hands-on training exercises that will explain concepts which will show students how to create a couple of databases from scratch, first by using the wizard to rapidly create the structure for a sophisticated contact management database, complete with tables, queries, forms, and reports. After exploring this database and entering a few records to get an idea of what a wizard can provide in the way of a starting point, students will discard this database and start working on a simpler contacts database for a sample company.

Students will meet the challenge of creating some forms to hide the complexity of the sample database from the people who will be entering and working with its information. First the students will discover how easy it is to let the Form Wizard create forms that they can then modify to suit their needs. They will also learn about the controls they can place in a form and the properties that control its functions and appearance. After they have created a form containing controls, the students will learn how to tell Access what to do when a user performs some actions in a control, such as clicking or entering text. Students will also take a look at subforms (forms within forms) and much, much, more.
